Returning to the Source : How Wonder And Empathy Can Save Us From Personal And Global Devastation
Overview
This memoir describes my journey through and beyond the legacy of childhood trauma thanks to the healing influences of the wilderness and animals--both wildlife and companion animals. Its many delightful stories show how I found joy by connecting with nature, my pets, and my children. From a wild ride crossing the Atlantic, to embracing activism for animal rights as a young girl in Manhattan, camping with my cats in the Adirondack Park, and encounters with wildlife in various National Parks, I trace the many adventures that have gladdened my heart and sustained my spirit. I offer these tales to encourage others to enjoy our precious North American wilderness and to find the courage to save it--and ourselves-- from climate catastrophe. There is so much beauty in our world to care for
