She Sent a Meme at 11 : 42 PM A Guy's Survival Guide to Modern Dating Nonsense
Overview
This book is about the confusing, exhausting, borderline ridiculous experience of being a guy trying to understand modern dating through the internet. Apparently, every website, social media account, podcast, and self-proclaimed relationship expert has cracked the code on women, relationships, soulmates, red flags, green flags, beige flags, emotionally unavailable men, emotionally available men, and whatever new category was invented sometime around Tuesday afternoon.
One article tells you women want a confident man. The next says confidence is intimidating. One says to text her immediately. Another says to wait three business days and a blood moon before replying. Somewhere in the middle, another article is trying to explain how your coffee order is secretly a sign of emotional immaturity.
Like a lot of people, I spend part of my workday scrolling through news websites to stay informed about current events. At least that is the plan. Somehow, five minutes after opening a news site to read about world events, I end up trapped in an article titled "12 Signs She Secretly Loves You Because She Sent You a Meme at 11:42 PM."
And these websites never stop. One minute it is politics. The next minute is:
- "Psychologists Reveal the 7 Male Personality Types Women Can't Resist"
- "10 Signs Your Partner Is Emotionally Breadcrumbing You"
- "Lab-Grown Diamonds vs Natural Diamonds: What Your Ring Says About Your Commitment Issues"
So, this book became my attempt to sort through the chaos. I am going to take a comical look at the endless stream of online relationship advice, dating psychology, soulmate theories, texting rules, flirting techniques, and internet wisdom that somehow dominates modern media.
Some of these articles are helpful. Some are absurd. Some sound like they were written by a therapist who got trapped inside a dating app. And some make me question whether human beings have ever actually interacted in real life.
This experiment may completely fail. It may somehow succeed. Either way, you are coming along for the ride. My goal is simple: make you laugh, question modern dating culture, and hopefully help all of us survive the internet's endless attempt to explain romance like it is a military strategy mixed with a hostage crisis and a group therapy session.
Wish me luck
