Movie Reviews

Reviews:
"Featuring possibly the best soundtrack in a Pixar film since the first TOY STORY, SOUL sports a jazz score that is not just an adornment to the story or an emotional enhancement, but an utterly integral part of the narrative." - 10/11/2020 Hollywood Reporter

3 stars out of 5 -- "There’s a place in The Great Before called The Zone, a window into the moments when we lose ourselves in what we’re doing, and at its best SOUL itself makes you feel similar....This is the Pixar magic." - 10/11/2020 Empire

5 stars out of 5 -- "SOUL affirms Pixar’s ability to tackle life’s biggies with exquisite layers of depth, wit, and world-building detail, even as it upholds the studio’s reinvigorated mission to evolve at every turn." - 10/12/2020 Total Film

"[A] warmly human fantasia. The scenes not set in the cuddly netherworld take place instead in a bustling New York, populated by characters with expressive features..." - 11/25/2020 A.V. Club

"SOUL is exquisitely beautiful, warmhearted, wickedly funny and deeply moving." - 12/24/2020 Chicago Sun-Times

"Despite its weighty themes, the project has a light touch. A musician might liken SOUL to an extended riff, or a five-finger exercise, which is very much in the spirit of jazz..." - 12/25/2020 RogerEbert.com
