Overview
The work is aimed at the description of modern progress in radiative transfer and light scattering in snow. The problems related to optical remote sensing of snow are considered as well. The novel methods of the diffuse wave spectroscopy as applied to snow are discussed. Modern progress in snow reflectance spectroscopy and its application for the monitoring of snow surfaces using ground based and satellite optical instrumentation is presented. The snow thermal remote sensing is discussed as well. The primary audience for the work are the postgraduate students and also scientists actively involved in studies of the propagation of solar radiation in cryosphere and the influence of changes in cryosphere on climate.
