Overview
On the longest night of winter, morning does not come.
The stars hang low, the village waits in darkness, and even Lumo's glow begins to quiver. Tia lights one small brass lantern and steps into the snow. Soon the baker, the fisher, the teacher, and every family in the village join her, each carrying one light.
At the hilltop, Tia discovers that the Long Night is not cruel. It is tired of carrying every dream, every fear, and every lonely hour alone. Then an old friend returns: the Lanternkeeper, holding the light Tia once kept for him.
Together, the village learns that darkness is not always something to fight. Sometimes it is something we can help one another carry.
Filled with luminous watercolor illustrations, The Starkeeper Girl and the Longest Night is the comforting finale to the Starkeeper Girl series. A gentle read-aloud about empathy, teamwork, belonging, and shared courage for children ages 3-8.
"One light can start a dawn, but it takes all of us to keep it."
