The Sticky Case of Buta Cloud
Overview
A fork in the road. A bakery on the corner. A father and daughter, each with an ambition. Just Desserts bakes the most scrumptious pastries and cookies in East Punjab, and everyone wants a slice of the cake. So, what makes Just Desserts so special?
The Sticky Case of Buta Cloud is the delicious new story by Iain Cameron Williams.
The Sticky Case of Buta Cloud
Set in East Bengal, India, in 1962, The Sticky Case of Buta Cloud tells the story of a father and daughter, Buta and Bella Singh, who run a bakery called Just Desserts. Buta's Italian wife, Bellina, tragically died in childbirth, leaving Bella motherless and Buta to raise his daughter with the help of his elderly mother. To secure his family's financial future, Buta founded Just Desserts bakery, which has since gained a reputation for making the most scrumptious pastries and cakes in the region.
Both Buta and Bella share a deep love for the bakery and the small market town where they live. Each has a dream, however, not necessarily the same one. Buta is focused on slowly expanding the business and finding the perfect husband for his daughter. But Bella has a restless soul, a restlessness she has yet to understand or define. She adores Italian and French pop music, especially the singer Dalida, and hugely enjoys European and Bollywood movies. Yet, her aspirations seem detached from the life she currently leads.
It is 1962; Bella is approaching her 21st birthday. Something stirs on the horizon that neither Buta nor Bella had envisioned.
The Sticky Case of Buta Cloud is the first book in a two-book series. It is a story that will carry you along on an enchanting, if somewhat unanticipated, journey.
