Movie Reviews

Reviews:
"[D]irector Julia Ducournau returns to that untamed place where appetites run dark, using the human body as a vehicle to deconstruct ideas of gender, desire and incredibly dysfunctional family dynamics." - 07/13/2021 Variety

"Here, quite hardcore genre conventions are spiked with contemporary considerations of femininity, queerness and gender-bending to explore issues related to bodily intimacy and independence, sex and relationships in this new millennium." - 07/13/2021 Hollywood Reporter

3.5 stars out of 4 -- "[A]n extreme movie, violent and pitiless and funny, but the space it provides for not just tenderness but contemplation makes it an 'extremely' thought-provoking film as well." - 10/01/2021 RogerEbert.com

"TITANE consolidates a filmmaking style based on visceral shock, grisly absurdism and high thematic ambition." - 09/30/2021 New York Times

"In an era when nearly everything that can be done on film already has been, TITANE forges something sensational from nerve and pure metal, and makes it new." -- Grade: B+ - 09/27/2021 Entertainment Weekly

"There are a lot of wild twists and turns in this movie, but underneath there’s a constant: the agony of being trapped inside of a human body, and the itchy, restless desire to transcend it." - 09/30/2021 A.V. Club

"[B]izarre and thrilling and provocative and unnerving....A symphony of disturbing and dark madness unlike anything you’ve ever seen..." - 09/29/2021 Chicago Sun-Times

"Julia Ducournau’s follow-up to her smart 2016 debut, RAW, is a freaky Cronenbergian body-horror that facetiously explores identity with yucky flair." - 12/07/2021 The Guardian

"[TITANE] has an abundance to say: about gender, sexuality, family, human relationships and fetishisation. It’ll shake you, and something is definitely on fire." - 12/03/2021 Sight and Sound

"TITANE becomes a grossly entertaining vehicle for Julia Ducournau's brand of weird." - 12/22/2021 Empire
