The Transfer Was the Test
Overview
A protected witness transfer was never supposed to become a live test.
Transport specialist Evan Rourke is handed a sealed assignment with missing appendices, altered timing, and a route that keeps changing beneath him. Before sunrise, dispatch starts speaking in the wrong language. County units appear where they shouldn't. Surveillance arrives before orders do.
Then the transfer turns violent.
Now Evan, witness Lena Virelli, and a mechanic named Dara Kess are moving through storm tunnels, utility corridors, abandoned service routes, and compromised county systems while an invisible federal operation reshapes the pursuit around them in real time.
Someone has rewritten the rules of custody.
Someone is measuring how people break under controlled pressure.
And every route out may already belong to the system hunting them.
As the net tightens, Evan realizes the truth is worse than corruption, worse than a rogue retrieval team, worse than a failed operation.
The transfer was never the mission.
It was the test.
