Vampires and lycans--an ancient form of werewolf--are at war. Leather-clad death dealer Selene (Kate Beckinsale) delegates teams of vamps to attack the lycans until she discovers that the lycans have kidnapped a human medical student, Michael Corvin (Scott Speedman), which ultimately prompts the awakening of the all-powerful vampire Viktor (Bill Nighy). Beckinsale and director Len Wiseman return for drama, horror, and action in an even larger scope in the sequel UNDERWORLD: EVOLUTION.
