Movie Reviews

Reviews:
"An engaging for-kids ghost story whose fantasy elements are thoughtfully grounded by real-world concerns, THE WATER MAN ends with a blazing wildfire that is far scarier than the supernatural elements that precede it..." - 09/15/2020 Variety

"The keen affinity the actor David Oyelowo has for his fellow performers is the best thing about THE WATER MAN, his feature directorial debut." - 05/06/2021 New York Times

"A nice, gentle family film....Its sincerity and solidity are never in doubt..." - 05/05/2021 Rolling Stone

"Oyelowo is sure-footed in his feature directing debut, delivering a smart and wholesome picture with about as little sentimentality as such a tale can have." - 09/15/2020 Hollywood Reporter

"Both Chavis and Miller are extraordinary in what is very difficult terrain, moving from a purely transactional relationship into a deep and caring friendship." - 05/07/2021 RogerEbert.com

"The big-hearted, supernatural-tinged, beautifully rendered THE WATER MAN is set in present day but has the look and spirit of many a beloved 1980s adventure film, and that’s a pretty good deal right there." - 05/06/2021 Chicago Sun-Times
