Overview
Transatlantic is the true story of three young men who were crew aboard a 38 foot catamaran, delivering the small yacht from Cape Town across the Atlantic Ocean, to finally end up in the Bahamas after a 2 month voyage through some of the harshest conditions the oceans have to offer. 50 foot mountains of water, gale force winds and many technical challenges on board ensured constant sleep deprivation and extreme physical exhaustion from start to finish. Their only companions on this voyage, besides the other 2 crew members on board, were the creatures of the sea, from massive jellyfish, larger than the yacht on which the boys sailed, to swarms of flying fish, deadly as crossbow arrows flying around their heads. There was very seldom a dull moment on board. Visiting a number of tropical and volcanic islands en-route, and some very interesting encounters with some colourful locals, it promises to be an exciting and humorous read from the very first page. The boys finally ending up on the island of Nassau, Bahamas, where a completely different set of challenges presented themselves, leaving them in a desperate and unforgiving situation. Everything in this story is true, nothing has been made up. It tells of the kindness and malice that inhabits men's hearts, courage and despair, it is a tale of good and evil.
