He may seem like a frail boy, but he is a wolf who inherited his wolfishness through blood to complete the cycle of suppressed violence and interconnected fates in his family, as in any family. In the end, the story is one, the act is one, only the names change, only the times, and only the places. The unique environment of the Lebanese city of Tripoli plays a prominent role in this story, where streets and places harmonize with the characters' feelings and destinies, becoming witnesses to their transformations, struggles, and most intimate feelings. The reader closely follows the life of Hassan Al-Saba' and his family and neighbors, moving with them between past and present. Events in this short novel blend between reality and imagination with superb skill, interweaving aspects of loss, hatred, poverty, and crime, giving the narrative an exciting and deep character, along with its exceptional boldness.
