He currently serves as Vice President of the Urban Planning Society of China, an editorial board member of the journal City Planning Review, a member of the Shanghai Municipal Decision-making Consultation Committee, and a member of the Expert Evaluation Group for the Xiong'an New Area Planning. He holds a Ph.D. from the Department of City and Regional Planning at Cardiff University, UK. Previously, he served as Director of the Xiamen Urban Planning Bureau, Director of the Xiamen Planning Committee, and Deputy Chief Planner at the China Academy of Urban Planning and Design. Professor Zhao Yanjing not only studies the developmental patterns of urban space, having significantly influenced China's urban spatial strategies and policies, but has also long focused on researching economic growth issues.
