On March 16, 1977, the Druze leader was assassinated near a Syrian army checkpoint, which was part of the Arab Deterrent Forces. On September 30, the Taif Agreement formally ended the civil war. In 1992, national reconciliation was achieved among all the political parties and sectarian groups involved in the conflict, ushering in a new era of coexistence in Lebanon. On December 8, 2024, the Syrian regime fell. In 2025, the assassin of Kamal Jumblatt, who acted under orders from the regime at the time, was found.
